LB Medium, Lennox is a Molecular Biology Certified Bacterial Growth Medium. It is the most widely used medium for the growth of bacteria. MP Biomedicals offers LB media in a variety of formats for convenience and ease of use. It is Luria-Bertani, Rich Medium for the growth of E. coli and certified for plasmid and other bacterial cultures in liquid medium. MP Biomedicals offers LB Lennox media in an encapsulated format for convenience and ease of use.

LB Lennox supports a luxurious growth of E. coli cells as tryptone and yeast extract supply essential growth factors that E. coli cells would otherwise have to synthesize. The medium also contains essential electrolytes for transport and osmotic balance, due to the NaCl component .

Formulation Details Typically contains 10 g Tryptone; 5 g Yeast Extract; 5 g NaCl. Small quantities of biological buffers have been added for proper pH adjustment.

Hand protection: Pvc or other plastic material gloves Skin and body protection: Usual safety precautions while handling the product will provide adequate protection against this potential effect. Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.
pH Acceptable pH range is 7.0 ± 0.5 at 25 °C. Please note that the pH of LB Medium Lennox liquid increases as the temperature of the solution decreases.
Preparation Method Media Preparation: Reagents are tested and chosen for their ability to promote optimum growth of E. coli when combined in LB Medium Lennox formulations. Chosen reagents are combined in the proper proportions according to the LB Medium Lennox formulation and thoroughly blended for a uniform distribution. A sample of the blended formulation is used to prepare liquid medium. The combinations are mixed to dissolve components and then autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes.
